Why does Wesley Urban Ministries exist?

Wesley Urban Ministries exists because poverty exists.

"Wesley Urban Ministries exists because injustice exists.  Wesley lives because compassionate men and women are motivated to alleviate poverty and work toward social justice." 

That comment is just as true today as it was when it was written in 1991, and as it was in 1955 when we first opened our doors.

Wesley Urban Ministries is devoted to helping people in Hamilton be great.  At Wesley Urban Ministries, we recognize that we cannot be satisfied with a simple 'charity approach' if we are to eliminate poverty in the long term.  We must continue to fight for changes that will truly impact those living in poverty.  We must continue to fight for what is right for our communities.  Because even if the journey towards greater justice is a long one, it is a journey well worth taking.
